Eric worked for David Engel, one of the foremost designers of Japanese gardens in the U.S., in New York City before starting his own design/build firm in Montclair in I986. Diana worked for Stephen Potters Architects in NYC, designing and managing projects including showrooms for clothing designers, offices in the financial district. as well as residences in the Hamptons. In I989. Diana left the firm to pursue residential projects in Montclair.
A passionate gardener all her life, Diana joined Eric in his established firm in 1999 as a partner in von Hoffmann Landscape Architecture. It allowed them to focus two points of view into one endeavor, creating beautiful residential gardens. What distinguishes their company from other landscape companies is having both been trained in architecture, Eric and Diana are committed to maintaining architectural integrity in every project. A garden or landscape project always takes its cues from the most important feature on a site, whether it be a residence or other structure, and establishes a meaningful setting for
both.
